I - INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM

 

 

The Board of Trustees believes that student’s benefit from the experiences made possible through participation in school sports. Learning how to deal with success and failure, developing self-discipline and a sense of teamwork and developing physical skills are some of the benefits students receive from these programs.

Membership of the district in the Wyoming High School Activities Association (WHSAA) shall be subject to annual approval by the Board. The Board shall review the constitution and bylaws of the WHSAA and its rules for membership teams before granting approval.

The superintendent shall annually apply for district membership in the WHSAA as authorized by the resolution of the Board and the Board shall annually appoint an official representative from the district to the WHSAA. Once the district has established membership, it shall abide by the constitution, rules and the interpretation of the rules as set forth in the Association’s handbook.

The eligibility of students to participate in athletic programs shall be in accordance with WHSAA rules. The Board has the right to establish additional eligibility requirements as long as these are not in conflict with WHSAA rules.

All interscholastic activities shall be under the direct responsibility of the building principal, with the approval of the Board through the superintendent. All interscholastic activities shall be properly planned and supervised by an adult sponsor. School conduct standards shall be adhered to by teachers and students at all times during such activities.
