EMPLOYEE SUPERVISION AND ASSESSMENT

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION AND SUPERVISION - CERTIFIED

Uinta County School District #1 board of trustees recognizes that our primary mission is to prepare students for life after graduation. We recognize that our economy will continue to shift more toward a knowledge-based economy and life in the 21st century will continue to become more complex and globally focused.

We commit that our students will become more competitive locally, nationally and internationally by obtaining the skills, knowledge, and expertise needed to succeed at life in the 21st century specifically in higher education, or in the world of work.

In meeting this commitment, the District provides for the supervision and evaluation of all certified staff.

Evaluation is defined as the decision-making process that determines the employment status of certified staff. Evaluation is based on formative data, both formal and informal, collected by the teacher and administrator. This data is used to assess how well the certified employee meets performance expectations defined by the District in the teacher performance standards. Evaluation is the process of assessing evidence and data to prescribe improvement strategies, professional development, salary schedule movement, and determine whether to recommend the employee be offered employment, discharged, or terminated.

Supervision is a collaborative process designed to support professional growth and improvement of instructional strategies, techniques, and instructional delivery by certified staff members. The process includes observation, analysis, feedback, conferencing, coaching, and follow-up. Certified supervision is based on the premise that effective supervision is essential for powerful instruction and powerful learning.

It is the responsibility of the building principal or assigned supervisor to see that the certified Performance Evaluation System is implemented.

All formal written supervision and evaluation documents will become a part of the respective employee’s file that is kept in the Human Resources office.
