PROFESSIONAL STAFF SALARY SCHEDULES

It is the intent of the Uinta County School District Number One Board of Trustees to establish a salary schedule for teachers that will successfully attract new teachers and appropriately compensate those teachers that have provided extended service to the district. All teachers’ salaries will be determined in accordance with the salary schedule adopted by the Board of Trustees.

The adopted salary schedule expresses the policies the Board expects to follow in establishing teachers’ salaries. The Board will make every reasonable effort to maintain the approved salary schedule; but it reserves the right to amend, at any time, any or all parts of any current schedule and provisions relating thereto, as in its opinion seem necessary and are in accordance with law. Under this provision, any part or all the annual increment may be withheld and such other adjustments of salary may be made as financial conditions warrant.

Placement

Any teacher hired shall receive credit on the salary schedule for all prior years of certified teaching experience in an accredited school district or as a certified teacher in an accredited preschool system.

Certification

Wyoming Statute stipulates that no person shall teach or supervise in a public school in this state and receive compensation therefore out of any public fund who at the time of rendering such services is not a holder of, or a candidate and qualified for a certificate issued, or to be issued, under the laws of this state and the rules and regulations of the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board. Therefore, it is the responsibility of each teacher to maintain appropriate certification to fulfill their assigned responsibilities in the State of Wyoming. Re-certification should be applied for through the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board sufficiently in advance of the expiration date of their current certificate to allow re-certification to be completed prior to the first designated workday of the new school year. Securing and maintaining appropriate Wyoming certification is the responsibility of the individual teacher, not the responsibility of the district.

Additional Credit (Horizontal Advancement)

Teachers and administrators shall be required to do the following additional schoolwork:

All teachers and administrators having an initial teaching or administrator’s certificate and a bachelor’s or master’s degree shall do five semester hours of additional schoolwork in three years. All teachers and administrators having a Standard or Professional teaching or administrator’s certificate shall complete five semester hours of additional schoolwork every five years and as often thereafter as necessary to maintain proper certification with the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board. These credits may be secured by extension work as follows:

  1. On campus courses at the university
  2. In-service recognized by the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards

    Board

  1. Extension courses from a university
  2. Correspondence courses from a recognized institution and approved by

the Superintendent before course is taken.

Teachers shall be allowed up to July 1st to notify the Superintendent’s Office of their intention to accumulate extra credits, which would result in their horizontal advancement on the salary schedule. Documentation for the credits earned (official transcripts) should be presented to the Superintendent’s Office at the earliest date possible following the completion of the work to accumulate the extra credits but in any event this documentation must be presented on or before September 25th. All degrees and hours presented for advancement on the salary schedule must be sanctioned by and acceptable to the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board.

Pay Schedule

Teachers shall be employed at the annual salary rate provided in the salary schedule, which shall be due on the fifteenth (15th) and the thirtieth (30th) day of the month. Installments number 19-24 will be paid on the regular bimonthly dates. Should any teacher or principal fail to hand in a report due, salary for the current month may be withheld until the report is made.

Substitute Pay

The pay rates for substitute teachers will be reviewed annually and updated with the certified and support staff salary schedules as found in GCBA-E.

Administrator’s Salaries

The Board of Trustees has established salary schedules for all district administrators except for the Superintendent. Administrator salaries will be determined by placement on the approved salary schedule. Experienced administrators new to the district may have previous experience accepted for salary schedule placement up to the tenth step. The Superintendent may allow additional years of experience, that have been approved by the school board, for hard to fill positions.

The Board will make every reasonable effort to maintain the approved salary schedules but reserves the right to amend all parts of the current schedules and provisions relating thereto, as in its opinion seem necessary and are in accordance with law.
