GBCC DRUG FREE WORKPLACE

All employees of Uinta County School District Number One are hereby notified that the District will provide a drug free workplace in accordance with the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988 and its implementing regulations. In compliance with this act, all employees are hereby notified that it is unlawful to manufacture, distribute, dispense, possess, or use a controlled substance, as that term is defined by State and Federal Law, at work or at any other time while on school district property.

In accordance with the implementing regulations of the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988, each employee of the school district shall be given a copy of this policy.

All school district employees are hereby advised that:

Treatment and care for alcohol and drug abuse is a covered benefit as defined in the Major Medical Expense Benefits of the employee health insurance program.

As a condition of employment with the school district, all employees shall:

1. Abide by the terms of this policy and the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988 and its implementing regulations.

2. Notify the Superintendent of Schools regarding any criminal convictions of said employee of a violation of this policy occurring at the workplace or on district property no later than five (5) days after such conviction.

Any employee in violation of this policy or any employee convicted of manufacturing, distributing, dispensing, possessing or using a controlled substance at the workplace or at any other time while on school district property, the Superintendent shall take one of the following actions within thirty (30) days of receiving notice with respect to any convictions related to the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988:

1. Take appropriate personnel action against such an employee, up to and including termination.

2. Require such employee to participate satisfactorily in a drug abuse assistance or rehabilitation program sponsored for such purposes by Federal, State, or local health, law enforcement or other appropriate agency.
