EBCC BOMB THREATS

Adoption Date: 10/9/2001, Revised: 7/12/1988
E - SUPPORT SERVICES

The Board acknowledged its responsibility to ensure the safety of the children under its care. At the same time, it wishes to deal firmly with bomb threats and to discourage this type of disruption, which poses a danger to everyone in the schools even when it is merely a threat and a nuisance.

Therefore, procedures for dealing with bomb threats shall:

1. have as their first objective, the safety of students and personnel;

2. have as their second objective, the identification of the person or persons making the threat;

3. require immediate reporting of any incident to the superintendent’s office and the local authorities;

4. provide specific instructions to staff, especially office and switchboard personnel, in dealing with threatening phone calls.

The superintendent and the building administrator(s) involved, shall have full authority to deal with the situation within the procedural guidelines listed in the Uinta County School District Number one Emergency Preparation Manual, under Bomb Threat, and within the dictates of their best judgment.

Current practice codified 1978
