EEAB SCHOOL BUS SCHEDULING AND ROUTING

Adoption Date: 10/11/1988, Revised: 3/11/2008
E - SUPPORT SERVICES

Bus routes, schedules, and stops will be developed under the direction of the superintendent. The purpose of bus scheduling and routing will be to achieve maximum service with a minimum fleet of buses, consistent with rendering reasonable equal service to all students.

Bus routes will follow the most direct roads practical for bus travel to serve those students entitled to transportation service. Where an alternate route may be selected without sacrifice of efficiency or economy, preference will be given to that route serving the largest number of students more directly.

Bus routes may be altered or shortened to meet shifts in student population, safety considerations, and changes in local weather or road conditions. Routes may be extended into housing areas or subdivisions as required.

Authorized bus stops will be located at appropriate intervals in places where pupils may board and get off, cross highways, and wait arrival of buses with the utmost safety permitted by traffic conditions. Stops will be located, as much as possible, on the right-hand side of the roadway. Children will be delivered to their point of pickup and deboarded on the right-hand side of the roadway when possible. Student safety to and from the established school bus stop is the responsibility of the individual parent(s).

A copy of all regularly established routes, bus stops, and bus schedules will be kept on file in the District.
