Under law, school boards are authorized to "save harmless" and protect teachers and administrators from financial loss arising from negligence suits or claims. Boards may also insure themselves against such claims.
It is the practice of the Board of Trustees of Uinta County School District Number One to purchase liability and "errors and omissions" insurance for itself and its employees. Proposals for such insurance coverage shall be considered by the Board and, if adopted and approved by the school attorney, shall be purchased for a specific term as mentioned in the insurance policy.

Note: "Errors and omissions" insurance covers Board members and administrators. Liability insurance covers all staff, school buildings and sites, school-sponsored trips.
