KLD PUBLIC COMPLAINTS ABOUT SCHOOL PERSONNEL

Adoption Date: 1/1/1978
K - SCHOOL-COMMUNITY RELATIONS

Criticism of the schools is welcomed when it is motivated by a sincere desire to improve the quality of the education program and to equip the schools of this district to their task more effectively.

However, the Board places trust in its employees and will protect them to the extent possible from unwarranted criticisms and complaints. Personnel shall be informed of the nature and source of any significant complaints against them. Anonymous complaints will be disregarded. It is also emphasized that a complaint should be made at an appropriate time and place and in a civilized manner. In no case shall complaints be made in front of students or during class time.

The superintendent shall develop, for approval by the Board, procedures, which assure prompt and fair attention to complaints against school personnel. The procedures shall require that an employee who is the object of a complaint be informed promptly and be afforded the opportunity to present the facts as he sees them.
