J - STUDENTS

The Board of Trustees of Uinta County School District Number One expects the relationship between educators and students to be one of cooperation, understanding, understanding and mutual respect. The educator has a responsibility to provide an atmosphere conducive to learning and to motivate each student to perform to his/her fullest capacity. As educators, our role is to generate involvement and help students develop a sense of identity and belonging within the schools. Schools are for students. Good student/teacher relationships are the core of good teaching; without them, there is generally little learning. Staff members are expected to take the time necessary to relate to students.

Taking a sincere professional interest in an individual student is commendable, provided partiality and the appearance of partiality is avoided. The teacher who inspires, guides and helps can have a lasting influence on a student throughout his life. However, such teacher/student relationships must not become excessively informal and "pal-like." Excessive personal involvement is not compatible with professional ethics and shall not be condoned; dating between student and teachers is prohibited.

Teachers of this District shall insist on proper respect from students under their jurisdictions; likewise, they should earn their respect by maintaining a proper attitude. Students shall address teachers properly during school time.
