BDDC AGENDA PREPARATION AND DISSEMINATION

Adoption Date: 6/10/1980, Revised: 1/5/1985
B - SCHOOL BOARD GOVERNANCE AND OPERATIONS

The superintendent of schools shall prepare and submit to each member of the Board, at least three days prior to each meeting, an advance copy of an agenda outlining matters to be considered by the Board. Such materials as members have requested shall be included for consideration, including policy changes.

Items of business may be suggested by any Board member, staff member, or citizen of the district; the inclusion of such items shall be at the discretion of the superintendent. The agenda, however, shall always allow suitable time for the remarks of the public who wish to speak briefly before the Board.

The Board shall follow the order of business set up by the agenda unless the order is altered by the majority vote of the members present.

Agendas for special meetings shall be set by the Board chairman, in consultation as necessary with the members requesting the meeting and the superintendent. Only matters related to the call of the special meeting shall be acted upon at the meeting.

All agendas and supporting materials for regular as well as special and emergency meetings shall be distributed far enough in advance, if at all possible, for Board members to consider the items of business scheduled before the meeting convenes. For regular meetings, they shall be in the hands of Board members at least three days in advance; for special or emergency meetings, they shall be submitted to the members as far in advance as circumstances allow.

Copies of the agenda will be sent to principals for posting in their respective school buildings. Copies will also be made available to the press, to community and staff groups and to others upon request.
