EEAD SPECIAL USE OF SCHOOL BUSES

Adoption Date: 1/27/1981, Revised: 10/11/1988; 03/11/08
E - SUPPORT SERVICES

School-owned or contracted vehicles may be used as transportation for student field trips and activity trips and paid for by the district insofar as it is practical to do so and the budget allows. The superintendent will set regulations for such use.

All arrangements for bus services for special student trips and activities shall be made through the principal and the Transportation Director. The Transportation Director shall take every precaution to insure student safety on all student field trips and activity trips. Therefore, the Transportation Director shall assign all buses and sub drivers and shall have the authority to cancel any trip if weather, road conditions or other circumstances present a potentially hazardous condition.

USE OF SCHOOL BUSES FOR NON-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

The general philosophy of the Board of Education is that transportation equipment owned or leased by the school district is to be used primarily for school purposes and that taxpayers shall not be expected to subsidize busing equipment or personnel not necessary for school district purposes. In case of extreme emergency, school buses may be used for non-school purposes with the approval of the superintendent.
