It is the intent of Uinta County School District Number One to place student safety as the highest priority when transporting students in relation to School District functions or related operations. According to state law W.S. 21-3-131, "School bus routing and seating plans shall be coordinated to eliminate standing passengers or exceeding the manufacturer’s rating capacity for the school bus." It is with student safety in mind that the Board directs that at no time shall the number of passengers in any District owned vehicle exceed the load capacity of the vehicle as established by the manufacturers statement of maximum load. At no time shall passengers be allowed to stand while a school bus is moving. It is further directed that when coaches, sponsors, parents or other private citizens transport students on school related activities in their private vehicle, the maximum load capacity of the vehicle shall not exceed the seat belt capacity for the vehicle.
