College Prep 10 (Period 1A) Assignments

The students will be watching Julius Caesar for enrichment purposes.

The students will be doing a timed essay on Julius Caesar.

The students will be taking a 70 question test on Julius Caesar.

Students will do a performance project from Julius Caesar. They will perform a scene in the original Elizabethan language, modern text, and will explain the scene line-by-line for interpretation.

The students will have a notebook check on Independent reading and ACT Prep for the first semester.

The students will begin giving Book Talks for the rest of the semester.

The students will write an in-class essay on the novel Anthem.

The students should be done reading the novel Anthem and taking notes on the novel.

The students should take the ACT Prep Interim Test on their Illuminate site.

The students will take a short story unit test.

The students will prepare notes on "The Pedestrian" for a discussion.

     Theme with 3 quotes, 10 symbols, 5 higher level questions, and a summary of the plot. 

The student will have notes prepared on "Searching for Summer" for a class discussion. The notes include a theme with 3 quotes, 5 higher level questions, and 10 symbols.

Students who received a C, D, or F on their research paper final draft may rewrite their paper for a letter grade of a B, if the rewrite improves their skills and knowledge. Students must turn in their original final draft and their rewrite by November 7th at 3:30 p.m. Students can receive help before school or after school on the rewrite. 

The theme, symbols and 5 higher level questions for "A Sound of Thunder" will be due for a completion grade.

Prepare the following information for a grade on "Harrison Bergeron."

   Plot, Setting, Characterization, Point of View, Theme with three quotes, 10 symbols (literal and figurative interpretation), and 5 higher level or critical thinking questions.

 

The final draft of the research paper is due! No exceptions!

The second complete draft must be done. This draft should make sure that there are no missing components to the content. Word choice, flow of content and logic of argument should be revised. 

The complete first draft must be done. It includes: a title page, header, introduction, body paragraph, conclusion, and works cited page. 

The concluding paragraph along with the revised introduction and the revised body paragraph are due for a grade. 

The student's introduction paragraph must be completed for a grade check.

The first body paragraph must be complete. 

The students need to take the ACT Pretest which has been uploaded to my Google Classroom. Students will be given time on September 21st and 22nd to take the Pretest in class. Those missing must make up the Pretest by September 26th. Please see Mrs. Davis for the code to add her class.

The revised complete outline with solid evidence is due for inspection.

The students will complete the outline with evidence and citation information. See attached sample outline below.

Students should have an outline of their research topic choice with arguments and ideas for evidence. See the example attached below!
